The Changan Workshop is planned as a university-industry collaboration initiative to support Changan Automobile’s international development and meet the growing demand for skilled automotive professionals in Thailand. The project will focus on talent development in automotive manufacturing, maintenance, new energy vehicle technology, after-sales service, and related industrial applications.

During the meeting, participants discussed Changan Automobile’s manufacturing plant in Rayong Province, which has a designed annual production capacity of approximately 200,000 vehicles. Current output is around 100,000 vehicles, with a shortage of skilled technical personnel identified as one of the key challenges. Demand is especially strong for professionals in electromechanical maintenance, new energy vehicle maintenance, and after-sales service.

The proposed Changan Workshop Training Center will be jointly developed by Assumption University of Thailand, Changan Automobile, and a Chinese partner institution, tentatively Yibin Vocational and Technical College. The parties are expected to cooperate on curriculum development, faculty training, educational resources, and practical training facilities.

Assumption University of Thailand has identified a potential site of approximately 200–300 square meters, with the existing Airbus A320 training facility being considered as a possible venue. Equipment transportation and installation are expected to take around four months. Meanwhile, faculty training planning, curriculum framework development, and equipment deployment planning may proceed in parallel within two months after project initiation.

The next steps include confirming the project site, advancing the tripartite cooperation framework, preparing faculty and curriculum plans, and accelerating implementation. The initiative is expected to strengthen industry-education cooperation and support Thailand’s growing need for automotive and new energy vehicle talent.
