Global Skills Thailand 2026 Connects Classrooms, Cultures and Careers

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) , in collaboration with the University of Northern Iowa, proudly concluded the first episode of Global Skills: Thailand 2026, a two-week immersive program that brought together 16 students from seven countries to learn, grow and connect in Bangkok.

The program offered participants more than a study trip. It became a living classroom where academic learning, cultural discovery, business exposure and community engagement came together across one of Asia’s most dynamic cities.

Over the past two weeks, participants explored Thailand not only as visitors, but as engaged learners and young professionals in the making. Through a rich blend of academic, cultural and community-based activities, students experienced Thai cultural heritage, diverse business perspectives and real-world applications of the subjects they study at home.

A Deeper Look at Thai Culture and Heritage

Participants explored Thailand’s cultural heritage and the influence of Buddhism through visits to landmark sites including the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, Wat Saket and Thai Craft Studio. These experiences offered meaningful insights into Thai history, art, religious life and the cultural values that continue to shape Thai society.

The program also encouraged students to see Bangkok through multiple lenses: as a cultural capital, an economic hub and a vibrant urban community where tradition and modern life meet every day.

Business Learning Beyond the Classroom

Company visits to BKF Aerospace, Tai Thai Manufacturing, i-Tail Corporation and Thai Namthip PCL gave students first-hand exposure to different industries and professional practices in Thailand.

These visits helped bridge classroom theory with real-world business operations, allowing participants to better understand how organizations manage production, innovation, quality, logistics and market demands in a fast-changing regional economy.

For many students, the company visits became a valuable opportunity to connect academic knowledge with professional practice and to imagine future career pathways in international business, manufacturing, food production, aviation-related industries and consumer goods.

Bangkok as a Living Classroom

Beyond formal academic and company visits, participants discovered local life through Bangkok Elephant Park, the colorful alleys of Chatuchak Weekend Market, the iconic Mahanakhon building and a variety of local restaurants and communities.

These encounters gave the cohort a flavorful and multi-layered impression of Bangkok. Students experienced the city’s energy, creativity and hospitality while gaining a better appreciation of how local communities, businesses and cultural spaces contribute to Thailand’s global appeal.

A Memorable Musical Finale

AU extended sincere gratitude to Dr. Sirichai Preudhikulpradab, Program Director at the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management, Assumption University of Thailand, and Dontri Pun Pleng Thai Classical Music School for sharing the beauty of Thai classical music and creating a warm, memorable closing to the program.

Strengthening AU–UNI Collaboration

AU and UNI also expressed deep appreciation to the many organizations, partners, faculty members and community hosts whose generosity and engagement contributed to meaningful learning experiences throughout the program.

Building on the success of this first episode of Global Skills: Thailand 2026, AU and UNI look forward to deepening their academic collaboration, expanding opportunities for student and faculty exchange, and co-creating future learning experiences that continue to connect classrooms, communities and cultures across borders.
