Bangkok, Thailand – Reinforcing the connection between higher education and industry, a delegation of senior administrators from Assumption University of Thailand (AU) visited Bangkok Metropolis Motor Industry to strengthen academic-industry collaboration and recognize the company’s support for the University’s international summer camp program. The visit reflected both institutions’ commitment to providing meaningful real-world learning opportunities, particularly for participants from the University of Northern Iowa who gained exposure to Thailand’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The AU delegation was led by Vice Presidents : Dr. Kitikorn Daopiseth, Asst. Prof. Dr. Kitti Phothikitti , Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rawin Vongurai, Deputy Vice President and Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology; Dr. Satha Phongsatha, Dean of the Graduate School of Human Sciences; and Dr. Khongrit Chartpathomrak, Director, Thai, Confucius Instituteat Assumption University, and Dr. Somchai Wongsubsin, Member of AU Council.
The visit also served to thank Bangkok Metropolis Motor Industry for hosting students in the University’s summer camp program and giving them the opportunity to observe advanced manufacturing technologies and modern industrial operations. Students from the University of Northern Iowa gained firsthand insight into Thailand’s high-tech manufacturing sector and industrial innovation.
The university delegation was welcomed by CEO Mr. Viriya Trangadisaikul and Dr. Chayo Trangadisaikul, who introduced the company’s manufacturing processes, technological capabilities, and commitment to industrial excellence.
Bangkok Metropolis Motor Industry traces its origins to Bangkua Factory (BKF), founded in 1963 by Mr. Viriya Trangadisaikul’s family. The family-owned enterprise, now led by distinguished AU alumni, has grown from a single employee into a major manufacturing operation with more than 600 staff members.
The company’s growth has been driven by innovation in production techniques and progressive management practices. In 1973, the business expanded and was incorporated as Bangkok Metropolis Motor Co., Ltd.
Today, the company operates with a registered capital of approximately USD 3.8 million and specializes in three principal manufacturing sectors: plastic injection molding, aluminum die-casting, and the production of rubber tires and inner tubes for motorcycles and bicycles.
The visit highlighted the value of collaboration between higher education institutions and industry partners in preparing students for the global workforce through practical learning that connects academic knowledge with industrial applications.
