Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed back Dr. Petch Manopawitr, conservation scientist, BCST President, and Co-founder of ReReef, for a special FT 1005 Environmental Conservation session hosted by the Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation.
Held on June 26, 2026, at Room E31, E Building, Hua Mak Campus, the session gave students a rare opportunity to learn from one of Thailand’s leading voices in conservation, biodiversity protection, and coral reef restoration.
Dr. Petch brought real-world conservation into the classroom, connecting environmental science with the urgent challenges facing Thailand and the wider region. His work with ReReef has focused on coral reef restoration, marine conservation, and community-based action, showing students that environmental protection is not only a scientific issue but also a social responsibility.
Throughout the session, students explored how conservation depends on cooperation between scientists, local communities, policymakers, educators, and young people. Dr. Petch shared insights from his field experience and encouraged students to think beyond theory by considering how their own choices, studies, and future careers can support a healthier planet.
The talk also reflected AU’s continued commitment to sustainability education and responsible action. By welcoming practitioners who work directly with environmental challenges, the University helped students see how classroom learning can connect with meaningful change outside campus.
For FT 1005 students, the session was more than a lecture. It was a reminder that conservation begins with awareness, grows through action, and succeeds when people care enough to protect what cannot be replaced.
