Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed its new lecturers during Faculty Orientation 1/2026, a full-day academic orientation held on May 27, 2026, at Room D21, De Montfort Hall, Hua Mak Campus. Organized by the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the program introduced new faculty members to AU’s mission, academic systems, teaching expectations, research support, and professional development pathways.
The orientation reflected AU’s commitment to helping new lecturers begin their academic journey with clarity, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging. More than a formal introduction, the program served as a practical and collegial welcome into the University’s teaching and learning culture.
A Warm Welcome to AU’s Academic Community
The program opened with registration before Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the opening remarks. Her session introduced participants to AU’s mission, vision, and values, setting the tone for a day focused on academic excellence, student-centered teaching, and shared institutional purpose.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree also led a session on Academic Policies and Procedures, offering new faculty members an overview of academic policies, the academic advising system, examination regulations, proctoring processes, and reflective teaching practices. The session helped ensure that new lecturers were familiar with the standards and systems that support AU’s academic quality.
Supporting Faculty Beyond the Classroom
The orientation continued with an Administrative Overview by Mr. Thitapat Watchalapong, Director, Office of Human Resources Management. His session covered HR policies and procedures, employment benefits, and compensation, giving new faculty members important information about their professional life at the University.
After a coffee break, Dr. Nichanan Sakolvieng, Assistant Dean, MSME Business School, led an engaging session on Effective Teaching Strategies and Experience Sharing. The session focused on pedagogical approaches, engaging diverse learners, and drawing inspiration from real teaching experience. It highlighted the importance of active learning, classroom connection, and the human side of teaching.
The lunch break offered new lecturers an opportunity to network with colleagues and begin building professional relationships across the AU community.
Opening Doors to Research and Academic Growth
In the afternoon, the program shifted toward research and academic advancement. Dr. Pornpop Saengthong, Director, Institute for Research and Academic Services, and Mrs. Patraporn Traibutra, Researcher, Institute for Research and Academic Services, presented a session on Research Support and Opportunities.
Their session introduced participants to AU’s research support systems, grant support, publication guidelines, and academic title holders’ remuneration. The discussion encouraged new faculty members to see research not only as a professional requirement, but also as a meaningful way to contribute knowledge, strengthen academic identity, and support the University’s broader mission.
The final academic session, Academic Title Application, was delivered by Asst. Prof. Dr. Wanida Ngienthi, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs. Her presentation guided participants through the academic title application process, helping new lecturers understand future pathways for professional recognition and academic career development.
A Strong Start for New Lecturers
The program concluded with closing remarks by the Vice President for Academic Affairs, followed by a group photo session. The day brought together practical guidance, academic inspiration, and institutional support, giving new faculty members a strong foundation for their work at AU.
Faculty Orientation 1/2026 reflected AU’s belief that excellent teaching begins with well-supported educators.
