Assumption University of Thailand (AU) brought students face-to-face with representatives of leading Chinese universities and companies operating in Thailand as it co-hosted the 4th Thailand HSK Study in China and Career Fair 2026 on November 3 at the John XXIII Conference Center, Suvarnabhumi Campus.
The event welcomed nearly 3,000 visitors and brought together 49 exhibitors, including 24 higher education institutions and HSK-related exhibitors and 25 Chinese companies operating in Thailand. For students interested in studying in China or building international careers, the fair offered a valuable opportunity to ask questions, explore academic pathways and speak directly with prospective employers.
Jointly organized by Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the Ministry of Education, the Bangkok Center of China’s Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), and Chinese Testing International (CTI), the event was co-hosted by the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), Assumption University and the Confucius Institute at Assumption University (CIAU).
Strengthening Thailand-China Educational Cooperation
More than 150 distinguished guests representing government agencies, universities, educational organizations, business associations and media institutions attended the opening ceremony.
Representing Assumption University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanintorn Jittawiriyanukoon, Vice President for Research and Academic Services, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs. They were joined by Dr. Khongrit Chatpathomrak, Thai Director, and Mr. Zhao Peiqin, Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at Assumption University.
Senior government representatives included Ms. Pennapa Kanchana, Inspector-General of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation; Mr. Surapong Eim-uthai, Inspector-General and Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education; Dr. Arunee Chiramahasarn, Assistant Secretary-General of the Office of the Basic Education Commission; and Dr. Pinya Rattanaworachat, Deputy Secretary-General of the Office of the Private Education Commission.
Other distinguished guests included Mr. Liu Quanlei, President of the Chinese Enterprises Association in Thailand; Mr. Zhang Jinliang, Chair of the Chinese Private Schools Association; Mr. Wei Feize, Chair of Eim Group; Ms. Wang Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of the CLEC Bangkok Center; and Mr. Liu Xiaolong, Deputy General Manager of Chinese Testing International.
In his welcoming address on behalf of Assumption University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanintorn Jittawiriyanukoon encouraged students to engage directly with participating universities, explore their academic programs and career pathways, and make informed decisions about their futures.
The government representatives also emphasized the importance of international education partnerships and the growing role of Chinese-language proficiency in Thailand’s development.
Ms. Pennapa Kanchana highlighted talent development as central to Thailand’s progress, noting that international education partnerships broaden students’ horizons. She emphasized the value of bringing information about Chinese universities and employment opportunities together, helping young people develop their capabilities while strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Surapong Eim-uthai described educational cooperation as an important dimension of the longstanding friendship between Thailand and China. He expressed hope that the fair would encourage young people to learn Chinese, engage with different cultures and strengthen people-to-people connections.
Dr. Arunee Chiramahasarn highlighted the expanding opportunities available to students with Chinese-language proficiency, particularly in education, technology and international cooperation. She noted that OBEC prioritizes Chinese-language instruction in schools nationwide and uses the HSK examination to support improvements in teaching standards.
From Chinese Language Learning to International Careers
Speaking on behalf of employers, Mr. Liu Quanlei emphasized the importance of connecting Chinese universities with Chinese companies operating in Thailand.
As trade and investment ties between the two countries continue to develop, businesses increasingly seek candidates who combine Chinese-language proficiency with professional expertise and cross-cultural communication skills. He encouraged Thai students to develop these capabilities and contribute to stronger economic and cultural relationships.
Ms. Wang Xiaoyan highlighted the role of the fair in helping students progress from learning Chinese and obtaining HSK certification to pursuing higher education in China, internships and employment opportunities.
She explained that the CLEC Bangkok Center would continue working to connect Chinese-language learners with employers, helping young people translate their language skills into meaningful academic and professional opportunities.
Mr. Liu Xiaolong shared the impressive growth of Chinese-language education in Thailand. Since the HSK examination was introduced in Thailand in 1995, the country has established 87 examination centers and recorded more than 1.2 million cumulative test takers.
He also reported that Chinese-language test sittings in 2026 had surpassed one million for the first time. Bringing together universities, HSK services and employers, he explained, gives students an opportunity to turn their language-learning achievements into practical opportunities to study and work.
Leading Chinese Universities Meet Future Talent
The exhibition floor provided students with direct access to representatives from some of China’s leading universities, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xiamen University and other prominent institutions.
Students explored academic strengths, admission requirements, application procedures, tuition costs and campus life. Several universities highlighted programs combining Chinese-language studies with other academic disciplines, as well as joint training opportunities involving employers.
The business exhibition was equally engaging. Twenty-five Chinese companies operating in Thailand represented industries ranging from banking and logistics to manufacturing, technology, construction and energy.
Many students arrived with their HSK examination results and résumés, ready to speak with recruiters about employment opportunities and the qualifications businesses are seeking.
One university representative observed that Thai students’ questions were becoming increasingly specific compared with previous years. Rather than simply asking about studying in China, students wanted to understand which majors offered the best opportunities, how much their education would cost and how their qualifications could support their careers after returning to Thailand.
This practical exchange between students, universities and employers was one of the fair’s most valuable contributions.
By bringing together higher education institutions, Chinese-language testing services and businesses operating in Thailand, the event helped connect language learning with international study and employment opportunities.
For Assumption University, co-hosting the fair further reinforces its commitment to international education, cultural exchange and partnerships that prepare students for an increasingly interconnected world.
Through the Confucius Institute at Assumption University, the University continues to support Chinese-language education, HSK examination administration and initiatives that build stronger academic and professional connections between Thailand and China.
