Celebrating 125 Years of the Brothers of Saint Gabriel

From Island Nation to EV Innovation at Assumption University

Bangkok, October 27, 2026 — The future of transportation brought an international delegation to Assumption University of Thailand (AU) as representatives from the Maldives visited the University to explore electric vehicle (EV) technology, technical training and workforce development. The visit, coordinated by the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT) in connection with Thailand’s Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, formed part of the Maldives’ Electric Mobility Study Tour of Thailand, held October 25–30, 2026.

Representing the Maldives Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy, the delegation came to learn more about Thailand’s approach to electric mobility and the development of skilled professionals needed to support the transition.

From the Classroom to the Charging Station

Electric vehicles may be changing the way the world moves, but keeping them on the road requires more than batteries and charging stations. It takes skilled technicians, specialized training and institutions prepared to turn emerging technology into practical knowledge.

At AU, the visit focused on EV maintenance education, technician training, hands-on learning facilities and the equipment used to prepare professionals for this growing industry.

The exchange offered an opportunity to share perspectives on technical education, sustainable mobility and the workforce requirements of an increasingly electrified transportation sector.

Connecting Countries Through Education

For the Maldives, where environmental sustainability and climate change are pressing national concerns, exploring electric mobility offers opportunities to consider cleaner transportation solutions.

For Assumption University, welcoming the delegation highlighted the importance of international academic exchange and the role universities can play in sharing knowledge and developing the skills needed for emerging industries.

The visit also demonstrated how collaboration between educational institutions, professional associations and government agencies can support the transition toward more sustainable transportation.

As electric mobility continues to gain momentum, international exchanges like this help ensure that the people responsible for maintaining tomorrow’s vehicles are prepared today.

And at AU, that future is already charging ahead.
