Visit explored future collaboration across campuses, cultures and classrooms.
Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed a delegation from the Diocese of Mangalore, Karnataka, India, on August 18, 2026, for an academic and institutional visit exploring future collaboration.
The delegation included Fr. Peter Mascarenhas, SMM, Superior of the Montfort Novitiate, Karnataka; Fr. Johnson Sequeira, Principal of Lourdes Central School, Bejai; and Rev. Fr. Alfred Vincent Sequeira, Assistant Director of the Diocesan Biblical, Catechetical and Liturgical Centre (DBCLC).
Hosted by Rev. Bro. Dr. Sirichai Fonseka, President of Assumption University, the visitors were accompanied by Bro. Saard of the Thailand Province Headquarters.
During the visit, the delegation toured the Hua Mak and Suvarnabhumi campuses, gaining an overview of the University’s academic environment, institutional structure, educational facilities and campus infrastructure. The programme introduced Assumption University’s approach to higher education and its development as an international Catholic university in Thailand.
Discussions considered possible cooperation between Assumption University and educational institutions under the Diocese of Mangalore, including student and faculty engagement, knowledge exchange and other mutually beneficial academic initiatives.
The visit opened a constructive dialogue rooted in Catholic educational values and cross-cultural learning. Assumption University looks forward to building on the initial engagement and exploring meaningful avenues of cooperation with the Diocese of Mangalore and its educational institutions.
