The four AU faculty members of Assumption University of Thailand (AU) academic visit to Kerala, India, from June 18-24, 2026, provided a remarkable opportunity to strengthen international academic partnerships while gaining valuable insights into innovative educational practices. The delegation visited three distinguished institutions—Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, Rajagiri Business School, and Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School—each offering unique perspectives on higher education, management education, and school leadership. The visit served as an enriching platform for academic exchange, institutional benchmarking, and cross-cultural understanding.
The journey began at Rajagiri College of Social Sciences (RCSS) in Kochi, one of India’s leading autonomous institutions renowned for excellence in social sciences, management, psychology, commerce, and interdisciplinary education. Discussions focused on curriculum development, quality assurance, student-centered learning, international collaboration, and community-based education. The visit provided valuable insights into how higher education institutions can effectively balance academic excellence with social responsibility. On June 22, 2026, Dr. Chayada Thanavisuth, Dean of the Theodore Maria School of Arts, and Dr. Sandeep Khanijou, Chairperson of the Department of Business Economics, MSME, had the opportunity to share their expertise with undergraduate students in the BBA program.
A tour of the campus provided valuable insights into the activities of students. One important observation highlighted how Rajagiri students gave immense importance to the library facilities to enhance their learning and knowledge. The institution also provides the students with a vast array of sporting facilities intended to encourage them to participate and compete in sports. The vibrant and dynamic nature of the campus illustrates the importance of a student-based educational institution.
The delegation also visited Rajagiri Business School (RBS), an internationally recognized management graduate institution. The school is highly regarded for its emphasis on developing socially responsible and globally competent leaders through experiential learning, case-based instruction, and industry engagement. During the visit, AU faculty members had the opportunity to observe International Teaching Week 2026, held from June 22 to 27, 2026. Dr. Bhumiphat Gilitwala, Program Director of MBA, Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management, was invited to teach the Business Model Canvas, Dr. Chayada and A. Sasinut shared their knowledge on Intercultural Communication, and Dr. Sandeep on The Economics of a Changing World: Trade Wars, Geopolitics, and Business. The discussions highlighted innovative management education practices, research collaboration opportunities, executive education, and student mobility programs.
Another memorable highlight of the trip was the visit to Rajagiri Christu Jayanthi Public School, where the delegation observed how quality education begins at the foundational level. School director and principal, Rev. Dr. Varghese Kachappilly, shared the educational philosophy, emphasizing holistic development, creativity, leadership, character formation, and global citizenship. Discussions provided valuable insights into innovative pedagogical approaches, student engagement strategies, and the integration of technology into everyday learning. The visit reaffirmed the school’s collaboration and academic services, which nurture lifelong learners from an early stage through a values-based educational experience. All faculty members had the chance to meet with high school students and conduct public relations for AU.
Beyond the formal institutional visits, the trip offered numerous opportunities for cultural immersion and professional networking. Conversations and discussions with administrators, faculty members, and students enriched the experience and opened possibilities for future collaborations in research, faculty exchange, student mobility, joint conferences, and curriculum innovation.
The faculty expresses its sincere gratitude to the administrators, faculty members, staff, and students of the Rajagiri institutions for their generous hospitality, insightful discussions, and unwavering commitment to educational excellence. We look forward to nurturing this partnership and exploring many future opportunities for collaboration between our institutions.
