AU School of Music Celebrates the Feast of St. Cecilia

The Louis Nobiron School of Music at Assumption University of Thailand (AU) gathered in Martin Hall on the afternoon of November 19 for a solemn and uplifting Mass in honor of St. Cecilia, the patron saint of musicians. Students, faculty, and staff came together in a spirit of gratitude and harmony as the School marked its annual feast day.

The celebration offered a reflective pause amid the semester’s busy performance and rehearsal schedule, inviting the community to seek blessings for their musical journey—on stage, in the studio, and in service to society. As one of Thailand’s leading centers for music education and creative performance, the AU School of Music used the occasion to reaffirm its commitment to nurturing both artistic excellence and spiritual depth in its students.

With hearts aligned and voices raised, the Mass became a reminder that music at AU is more than a discipline; it is a calling lived out in faith, fellowship, and a shared desire to uplift others through sound.

About St. Cecilia

St. Cecilia is one of the most beloved saints in Christian tradition and is honored worldwide as the patron saint of music and musicians. According to early accounts, she lived in Rome in the 2nd or 3rd century and was known for her unwavering faith, courage, and purity of heart.

Legend says that Cecilia “sang to God in her heart” even in the midst of hardship, which is why she became a symbol of the profound connection between music, spirituality, and the human soul.

For musicians, St. Cecilia represents inspiration, artistic purpose, and the belief that music can lift the spirit, heal the heart, and reveal the divine.
