Assumption University’s “University in a Park” has taken the top spot in a recent feature celebrating five Thai university campuses whose architecture and atmosphere offer a distinctly international experience
Published by Postjung on September 3, 2026, the feature placed Assumption University of Thailand (AU) first, highlighting the architecture, landscaped surroundings and unmistakably international character of its Suvarnabhumi Campus.
For AU students and alumni, the images are instantly familiar. The long approach framed by international flags, expansive green spaces and the Cathedral of Learning rising above the campus have become part of the Assumption University experience and, for many, part of some very special memories.
A University in a Park
Postjung highlighted AU’s “University in a Park” concept, with approximately 200 acres of landscaped grounds creating a setting that brings together education, architecture and open space.
At its heart stands the 39-story Cathedral of Learning, one of AU’s most recognizable landmarks. Its Roman-inspired columns and Gothic influences help give the Suvarnabhumi Campus the European character singled out in the feature.
Yet the Cathedral of Learning has always been more than a beautiful building. Its classrooms, lecture halls, library facilities, student services and gathering spaces have been part of daily university life for generations of AU students.
Across the campus, grand architecture sits alongside gardens, walkways and spaces where students study, meet friends, celebrate milestones and, inevitably, stop for a photograph or two.
A Campus to Remember
Assumption University was joined in the Postjung feature by Mae Fah Luang University, Bangkok University, Mahidol University’s Salaya Campus and Thammasat University’s Rangsit Campus, each recognized for its own distinctive campus qualities.
The feature was not presented as an official university ranking, but its decision to place AU first offered a welcome recognition of something the AU community has long appreciated.
A university is ultimately defined by its people and the education it provides. But there is also something special about having a campus that students are proud to call home and alumni are always happy to see again.
For the AU family, the “University in a Park” is more than a beautiful campus. It is part of our shared story.
