Assumption University Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management recently organized a Career Day for their BBA students. The objective was to present students with exciting career opportunities and tourism partners to introduce their company as well as recruiting candidates for internships and employment. Students also attended two panel discussions on tips for success in tourism industry. Here are some panel speakers’ points discussed:
Eric Hallin, General Manager, Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok, “It is essential for today’s youth to grow quickly and realize an urgent need to expand hospitality industry in Thailand. We need to marry Thai hospitality with modern techniques, the ever-growing influence of modern technology, and social media. We need to make Thai hospitality business sustainable.”
Khun Suchadee Supploy, Assistant Learning and Development Manager, Four Points by Sheraton offered sage advice to students, “Opportunities are everywhere. Prepare yourself for them. Be active. Be productive. Keep the right attitude and have an open heart and you will be successful.”
Scott Michael Smith, senior lecturer said, “These student-led events give theman opportunity to acquire practical experience and our partners in tourism industry to visit our campus and meet our best and brightest students from dozens of countries.”
It was a big success and we wish to express our thanks to our generous supporters: The Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok , The Four Points by Sheraton, and leading tour companies and social enterprises such as Asian Oasis, Yaana Ventures, Smiling Albino and Local Alike. We could not have made it without you!
