Assumption University of Thailand (AU) was recognized at the Excellent Level by Thailand’s Ministry of Social Development and Human Security for its role as an organization that promoted employment and income generation for older persons.
The honor was presented as part of Thailand’s National Elderly Day and Family Day 2026, a national occasion dedicated to recognizing the value, dignity, and contribution of older persons in Thai society. The official selection results from the Department of Older Persons listed AU among organizations receiving the “Excellent Level” recognition for 2026. The announcement stated that 50 awards were presented in total, including 33 at the Excellent Level, 14 at the Outstanding Level, and three at the Good Level.
The recognition reflected AU’s continuing commitment to social responsibility, inclusive opportunity, and the belief that experience remains one of society’s greatest assets. In honoring organizations that support work and income opportunities for older persons, the Ministry highlighted an issue of growing importance in Thailand and across the region: how institutions can help create a more inclusive, age-friendly society.
The award was connected to the national ceremony held on April 8, 2026, marking National Elderly Day and Family Day. Public records from another award recipient confirmed that the ceremony was organized by the Department of Older Persons under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, with Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presiding over the opening ceremony.
For Assumption University of Thailand, the award carried special meaning. As a Catholic university rooted in service, human dignity, and the formation of people for society, AU’s recognition pointed beyond employment alone. It affirmed the university’s broader mission to build a community where people of different generations continue to learn from one another, contribute meaningfully, and remain valued.
In an era when many societies are rethinking aging, work, and lifelong participation, AU’s recognition offered a timely reminder that older persons are not merely beneficiaries of care. They are mentors, contributors, knowledge holders, and active members of national development.
The Excellent Level recognition also strengthened AU’s ongoing role as a university that connects education with real social impact. By promoting opportunities for older persons, the university contributed to a more compassionate and sustainable society, one where every generation has a place, a purpose, and a voice.
