AU and KU Cooked Up a Fresh Partnership in Food Innovation

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) ’s Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation marked a new step in academic and research collaboration with the Institute of Food Research and Product Development, Kasetsart University, during an MoU signing ceremony held on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, at AU’s Hua Mak Campus.

The ceremony brought together two respected names in Thailand’s food science and innovation sector. Kasetsart University’s Institute of Food Research and Product Development, widely known as IFRPD or the KU Food Institute, has long supported food-related research, product development, academic services and industry collaboration. Its work has played an important role in strengthening Thailand’s food sector through research, innovation and practical support for food entrepreneurs and industry partners.

At AU, the Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation has continued to prepare students for careers in food biotechnology, food technology, product innovation and bio-entrepreneurship. The school’s programs emphasize hands-on learning, research experience, industry connection and the ability to turn scientific knowledge into practical solutions for the food industry.

The MoU opened new opportunities for academic exchange, research cooperation, professional training, student learning and knowledge sharing between the two institutions. By connecting IFRPD’s expertise in food research and product development with AU’s strengths in international education, biotechnology and innovation, the partnership created a stronger platform for collaboration that benefits students, researchers, industry partners and Thailand’s growing food innovation sector.

The signing also reflected the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing food research that matters beyond the laboratory. From safer and smarter food processing to health-focused products, functional ingredients, sustainability-minded innovation and future food entrepreneurship, the collaboration placed students and researchers closer to the real challenges shaping the food industry.

For AU’s Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation, the partnership added another meaningful bridge between classroom learning and applied research. For IFRPD, it supported its continuing role as a national center for food research, academic service and industry development. Together, the two institutions planted the seeds for work that could help feed ideas, nourish talent and serve society.
