New learning pathways came into focus at Assumption University when a delegation from Singapore and Canada visited on August 20, 2026, to discuss credit recognition, student mobility and flexible study options.
Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed representatives from the Education Society of Singapore (ESS), Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at the University of British Columbia (UBC). The visit opened discussions on a possible roadmap for future academic collaboration.
The delegation was led by Mr. Peter Marcus Lim, President of the Education Society of Singapore. He was joined by Dr. Gerry Turcotte, President; Mr. Antonio Daling, Associate Director; and Dr. Emil A. Canlas, Registrar, of Corpus Christi College and St. Mark’s College at UBC.
A central topic was a University Transfer Program and credit articulation arrangement that could help students move more flexibly between partner institutions while having relevant academic credits recognised and transferred.
Participants also considered an Assumption University Credit Bank, an approach intended to support lifelong and stackable learning. Such a model would allow learners to build credits and qualifications progressively as their academic and professional goals develop.
Potential stackable programmes were discussed in Business, Digital and Data, Artificial Intelligence, and English Language Learning. The proposed areas reflect demand for flexible, industry-relevant education that can lead toward formal qualifications.
The meeting underscored a shared interest in international academic collaboration, flexible learning and student mobility. Both sides expressed interest in continuing discussions toward a practical implementation roadmap for the proposed initiatives.
