Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed senior leaders from St. Francis de Sales Degree College in Bengaluru, India, from July 15–17, 2026, for a series of meetings aimed at moving their academic partnership from agreement to action.
The visiting delegation included Rev. Dr. Binu Edathumparambil, Principal, and Rev. Dr. Shibu Jacob, Vice Principal. Their visit focused on developing an action plan under the institutions’ Memorandum of Understanding, with discussions covering short courses, student and faculty exchanges, joint research, and possible double-degree programs.
The delegation met Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., President of AU, at the Suvarnabhumi Campus. The meeting reaffirmed the institutions’ shared commitment to creating practical academic opportunities for students and faculty in Thailand and India.
At the Hua Mak Campus, the visitors held discussions with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanintrorn Jittawiriyanukoon, Vice President for Research and Academic Services and Dean of the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management, and Dr. Satha Phongsatha, Dean of the Graduate School of Human Sciences. The conversation explored graduate education, collaborative research, academic exchanges, and other areas of mutual interest.
The delegation later toured AU’s Suvarnabhumi Campus and met Dr. Chainarong Rungrueangarporn, Dean of the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics; Dr. Chayada Thanavisuth, Dean of the Theodore Maria School of Arts; and Dr. Anand Dersingh, Associate Dean and Chairperson of the Department of Mechatronics Engineering and Artificial Intelligence, Vincent Mary School of Engineer, Science and Technology.
The visitors also joined the University’s Wai Kru Ceremony, one of Thailand’s most meaningful academic traditions. Their participation offered a memorable introduction to the respect and gratitude shown to teachers within Thai education.
The visit marked an important step in translating institutional cooperation into meaningful programs. By connecting academic leaders across disciplines, Assumption University of Thailand and St. Francis de Sales Degree College strengthened the foundation for new learning, research, and international experiences for their students.
