King Rama X Scholars Begin AU Journey with Purpose

The first-year recipients of the Honor of King Rama X Scholarship paid a courtesy visit to Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., Ph.D., President of Assumption University of Thailand, on Friday, 3 July 2026, marking a meaningful beginning to their academic journey as members of the AU community.

The students were accompanied by the Honor of King Rama X Scholarship Committee, comprising senior scholarship students, together with Rev. Bro. Channarong Boonpram, f.s.g.,  Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs; Archan Saharath Dowpiset, Director of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs; and Archan Krisananan Kruawan, Advisor of the Financial Assistance Division, Student Affairs.

The visit formally introduced the new scholarship recipients to the President and offered them an opportunity to receive guidance, encouragement, and inspiration as they begin university life at AU.

This year’s first-year recipients represented three academic programs across the University:

Mr. Thiwakorn Chumnong, Ms. Jutharat Srisamut, Ms. Nichapat Baipho, and Ms. Nichada Klinkrun are pursuing English for International Business at the Theodore Maria School of Arts.

Ms. Waranya Fuengfu is studying in the Business Administration Program at the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics.

Mr. Oakkharaphon Gateyoy is enrolled in the Creative Commercial Communication Program at the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts.

During the meeting, the scholarship recipients introduced themselves and shared the pride of beginning their studies under a scholarship that carries deep meaning and responsibility. Their presence reflected not only academic promise, but also the values of discipline, gratitude, service, and leadership that the Honor of King Rama X Scholarship seeks to nurture.

Rev. Bro. Sirichai offered words of encouragement to the students, emphasizing the importance of making the most of university life, growing in knowledge and character, and preparing to become capable, ethical graduates who can contribute meaningfully to society and the nation.

He also shared reflections on the long-standing relationship between the Thai Monarchy and the Brothers of Saint Gabriel, noting that this bond has continued across generations. He explained that the Thai Royal Institution has maintained a close and enduring relationship with the Brothers of Saint Gabriel since the reign of King Rama IV, a relationship that has continued to the present day.

The President also recalled the great honor AU received during the reign of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great, King Rama IX, when His Majesty and members of the Royal Family graciously visited the University on various occasions. These royal visits, ceremonies, and moments of support remain part of AU’s institutional memory and reflect the lasting connection among the Thai Monarchy, the Brothers of Saint Gabriel, and AU.

The courtesy visit concluded with the students expressing appreciation for the President’s guidance and encouragement. More than a formal introduction, the occasion served as a warm welcome into the AU community and a reminder that scholarship is both an honor and a responsibility.

For these first-year recipients, the visit marked the beginning of a journey shaped by academic excellence, integrity, gratitude, and a commitment to responsible leadership.
