AU School of FBI Marks New Student Welcome With Research Exhibition and Wai Kru Ceremony

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) ’s Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation welcomed its newest students with a full day of academic engagement, safety preparation, and meaningful university traditions during the FBI AU Student Welcome and Academic Events 2026 on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Salle d’Expo, Hua Mak Campus.

The event brought together students, faculty members, and administrators for a program designed to introduce new students to academic life, research culture, laboratory responsibility, and the strong community spirit of the School of FBI.

The day began with registration, followed by the Student Research Exhibition, where students explored research work, exchanged ideas, and gained inspiration from ongoing academic projects. The exhibition reflected the Faculty’s commitment to hands-on learning, scientific inquiry, and student-centered discovery.

In the afternoon, new students joined the First Orientation, which provided guidance for academic success, campus life, and the journey ahead as members of the AU community. This was followed by a Lab Safety Seminar, helping students understand the essential practices, awareness, and responsibilities required in biotechnology laboratories.

A highlight of the program was the Pinning Ceremony, where students received a microscope pin. The pin served as a meaningful symbol of scientific curiosity, careful observation, precision, and discovery. It also marked the students’ formal welcome into the Biotechnology community and their first step toward becoming responsible future scientists and professionals.

The program continued with the Wai Kru Ceremony, one of Thailand’s most cherished educational traditions. Through this ceremony, students expressed gratitude and respect to their teachers, while also honoring the important relationship between learners and mentors. The ceremony reminded students that knowledge is not only built through study and research, but also through humility, discipline, respect, and guidance.

The event concluded with a group photo, capturing a memorable first chapter for the new generation of Biotechnology students at AU.

Through this full-day program, the School of FBI reinforced its commitment to academic excellence, safe laboratory practice, research-minded learning, and the values of respect, community, and lifelong discovery.
