The Saint Gabriel ‘s Foundation, Thailand Celebrated Unity Through Sport

The Saint Gabriel ‘s Foundation, Thailand network came together at Assumption College  Samutprakarn  for the 8th Saint Gabriel ‘s Foundation Staff Games , a two-day gathering that turned competition into community and reminded everyone that school spirit is not only taught in classrooms. Sometimes, it is best seen on a football field, a pétanque court, or during a very serious tug-of-war.

Held from April 29 to 30, 2026, the event brought staff from schools within the Saint Gabriel Foundation network together for friendly competition, fellowship, and shared celebration. The program reflected the Foundation’s long tradition of building strong educational communities through teamwork, discipline, joy, and human connection.

A Spirited Start Across the Fields

The first day began early, with participants traveling from various schools and university campus to Assumption College Samutprakarn . After breakfast at Louis Marie Hall, the competitions opened across several venues, including Saint Louis Arena, St. Francis Football Field, ACSP Fun Park, the Sport Center, the synthetic athletics track, and other school facilities.

The day’s schedule featured seven-a-side football, volleyball, chairball, basketball shooting, pétanque, sepak takraw, and track events. The variety of sports gave participants a chance to show not only physical skill but also patience, strategy, teamwork, and, in some cases, the noble art of laughing through exhaustion.

By late afternoon, the official opening ceremony was held at St. Francis Football Field, marking a meaningful moment of unity among the participating schools. The day continued with semifinal track events, keeping the energy high and the spirit of friendly rivalry alive.

Competition With a Larger Purpose

The second day continued with breakfast at Louis Marie Hall before the championship rounds and final matches began across the school grounds. Events moved from preliminary excitement to decisive moments, as teams and individuals competed in the final stages of each sport.

In the afternoon, the program shifted into lighter territory with recreational activities at St. Francis Football Field. The atmosphere reflected the deeper purpose of the gathering: not simply to win, but to connect. For educators and staff who often spend their days serving students, the competition offered time to celebrate one another as colleagues, teammates, and friends.

The event concluded with an evening dinner, closing ceremony, and awards presentation at Louis Marie Hall. The closing celebration recognized the efforts of participants and honored the shared commitment that continues to strengthen the Saint Gabriel ‘s Foundation Thailand network.

A Celebration of Service, Teamwork, and Brotherhood

More than a sports competition, the gathering stood as a celebration of the people behind the schools: teachers, administrators, staff, and support teams whose work shapes learning communities every day.

Through two full days of activity, the 8th Staff  Games strengthened bonds across institutions and reminded participants that education is built not only through academic excellence, but also through fellowship, mutual respect, and the joy of working toward common goals.

At Assumption  College Samutprakarn , the games ended, the medals were presented, and the applause faded. But the spirit of the event continued, carried back to each campus by staff members who had shared something larger than sport: a renewed sense of belonging within the Saint Gabriel ‘s Foundation family.

Assumption University of Thailand (AU)  participated in multiple sports events at the competition, with its athletes demonstrating strong commitment and determination throughout. The university achieved second runner-up in the men’s sepak takraw competition, reflecting the team’s dedication and effort. Despite the challenges, the athletes delivered their best performances, and the experience gained will serve as valuable motivation to further improve and return stronger next year.
