The Assumption University of Thailand community gathered at Suvarnabhumi Campus in a spirit of reverence, gratitude, and celebration to mark the anniversary of the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort, honoring the saint whose life of faith, service, and devotion continues to shape the university’s Catholic identity.
The anniversary celebration brought together administrators, faculty members, staff, students, distinguished guests, and members of the wider AU community for a meaningful day centered on worship, reflection, and fellowship.
A Chapel Rooted in Faith
The celebration was graced by the presence of H.E. Archbishop Francis Xavier Vira Arpondratana, Archbishop of Bangkok Archdiocese, who arrived at Suvarnabhumi Campus before presiding over the Holy Mass at the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort.
The Mass served as the heart of the day’s observance, inviting the university community to pause from daily routines and gather in shared faith. Within the chapel bearing the name of St. Louis Marie de Montfort, the occasion became more than an anniversary. It became a reminder of the spiritual foundation upon which AU continues to build its mission of education, service, and moral formation.
The Spirit of St. Louis Marie de Montfort
St. Louis Marie de Montfort is remembered for his deep devotion to Mary, his missionary zeal, and his powerful spiritual motto, “God Alone.” For St. Louis, these words expressed a life fully directed toward God, a life of humility, service, and unwavering trust.
His better-known expression of Marian devotion, “Totus Tuus,” meaning “completely yours,” reflects total dedication to Jesus through Mary. Together, “God Alone” and “Totus Tuus” offer a spiritual vision of surrender, purpose, and service. They also remain deeply connected to the values of AU, where education is understood not only as academic achievement, but as the formation of the whole person.
At AU, the legacy of St. Louis Marie de Montfort continues to inspire a community committed to wisdom, compassion, discipline, and service to others.
A Community Gathered in Gratitude
Following the Holy Mass, guests joined a luncheon reception at the John XXIII Conference Center, where the celebration continued in a warm atmosphere of fellowship and reflection.
The gathering offered an opportunity for members of the university community to strengthen bonds across schools, offices, and generations. It also reaffirmed the chapel’s role as a sacred space at the heart of Suvarnabhumi Campus, a place where students and staff may find quiet, prayer, and renewal.
A Living Legacy
The anniversary of the Chapel of St. Louis Marie de Montfort reminded the AU community that a university is more than its classrooms, offices, and ceremonies. It is also a community of values.
Through its Catholic heritage and Montfortian spirit, Assumption University of Thailand continues to carry forward a tradition of faith, learning, and service. The celebration honored not only a chapel, but also the enduring call to live with purpose, humility, and devotion.
In the words that guided St. Louis Marie de Montfort’s life, “God Alone” remains both a prayer and a path forward.
AU expressed its sincere gratitude to all who joined and supported the anniversary celebration, helping make the occasion a meaningful and memorable expression of faith, unity, and community.
