Driving the Future: AU Partners EV Leaders to Power NEV Talent

VMES advances EV talent through new energy collaboration.


Suvarnabhumi Campus, February 16, 2026Assumption University of Thailand (AU) strengthened its role as a key driver of the country’s electric vehicle ecosystem by launching the Gabriel Mary New Energy Research and Learning Center, welcoming senior leaders from government and industry to advance strategic collaboration for the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) era.

A Milestone in Industry–Academic Collaboration

The visit marked an important step in building long-term partnerships between academia and the electric vehicle sector. The delegation included leading figures from Thailand’s EV ecosystem:

  • Mr. Suroj Sangsnit, President, Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand (EVAT)
  • Mr. Treepol Boonyaman, Deputy Director, Thailand Automotive Institute (TAI)
  • Mr. Jia Weichao (Jason), Director, MG Sales (Thailand)

The University delegation was led by Dr. Kittikorn Daopiset, Vice President for Moral Development Educational, together with Asst. Prof. Dr. Narong Apiratsakul, Dean of the Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology (VMES), who hosted discussions on future cooperation.

The engagement highlighted AU’s commitment to serving as a bridge between education, innovation, and industry transformation.

Building Advanced Engineering Talent for the NEV Economy

During the visit, both sides explored strategies to develop Upskill and Reskill programs aimed at producing advanced engineers and specialized professionals urgently needed by the evolving mobility sector.

Three strategic priorities were identified:

  • Strategic R&D
    Joint research and technology development in new energy vehicle systems in collaboration with industry partners.
  • Professional Training
    Advanced training programs to strengthen workforce capabilities across the automotive supply chain.
  • Sustainability Goals
    Supporting green mobility initiatives aligned with Thailand 4.0 and national Net Zero ambitions.
    The initiative positions AU as a hub for innovation, workforce development, and industry readiness as Thailand accelerates its transition toward sustainable transportation.

A Center for the Future of Mobility

The Gabriel Mary New Energy Research and Learning Center will serve as a platform for applied research, professional development, and industry engagement, enabling businesses, engineers, and students to adapt confidently to the rapidly expanding NEV landscape.
