Holy Week at AU: Reflection, Community, Celebration

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) warmly invites both the AU community and the general public to join in the observance of Holy Week, a sacred period marked by solemn reflection and joyful anticipation leading up to Easter Sunday. Throughout this important time, our Hua Mak and Suvarnabhumi campuses will host a variety of liturgical services and spiritual activities.

Holy Week, the final and most solemn week of the Lenten season, holds deep significance for Catholics and Christians worldwide. It commemorates the final days of Jesus Christ’s earthly ministry and culminates in the celebration of His resurrection. The Holy Week is a time of reflection on Jesus’ message of love and compassion, which still resonates its relevance in our society to this very day. Easter Sunday is a symbolism of hope derived from Jesus’ resurrection representing the triumph of life over death. Several key dates are marked by prayer and liturgical serves at both campuses.

  • Palm Sunday – Commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem, welcomed by crowds waving palm branches in reverence.
  • Holy Thursday – Marks the Last Supper, where Jesus instituted the Eucharist and demonstrated humility through the washing of His disciples’ feet.
  • Good Friday – A solemn day recalling Jesus’ crucifixion and death; a time of mourning, penance, and fasting.
  • Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil) – A quiet day of reflection as we remember Christ’s burial. The Easter Vigil held in the evening is a profound celebration of light and new life.
  • Easter Sunday – The pinnacle of the Christian calendar, celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, symbolizing victory over death and the promise of eternal life.

We encourage everyone to take part in this meaningful journey of faith, prayer, and fellowship. Please join us in the scheduled services and activities at our university chapels as we walk together through the passion, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

For event schedules and further details, kindly refer to the announcements on campus or visit the AU website.
