Assumption University’s first master’s graduate exhibition brings artistic research and cross-cultural exploration into the gallery.

Assumption University’s Graduate School of Fine Arts and Design opened its 2026 graduate exhibition, “Presence of the Exotics” at the AU Museum, Suvarnabhumi Campus, on August 5, 2026.

The exhibition marks the school’s first master’s graduate exhibition and presents work developed through two years of artistic practice, academic research and cross-cultural exploration.

Painting, interactive installations, new-media video, creative design and live performance share the gallery, reflecting the graduates’ willingness to experiment with different materials, ideas and forms of expression.

Dr. Apichart Intravisit, Program Director of the Graduate School of Fine Arts and Design, welcomed guests at the opening ceremony. He described art as a bridge capable of crossing national borders and connecting civilizations, encouraging students and visitors to discover new perspectives through the exhibition.

Professor Wu Yongqiang, Chinese Dean of the Graduate School of Fine Arts and Design, introduced the exhibition’s curatorial concept and the work of its first cohort. He highlighted the graduates’ exploration of different media, cultural contexts and individual artistic languages.

Assumption University Vice President Dr. Kitikorn Dowpiset congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to remain internationally minded and open to innovation. He urged them to connect their creative practice with social development, technological change and multicultural exchange as their careers evolve.

The exhibition takes “presence” as a starting point for examining lived experience, identity and individual expression across cultures. The works consider the relationships between people and their environments, tradition and contemporary life, and local experience and international exchange.

“Presence of the Exotics” also demonstrates how academic research can move beyond the written page. Ideas developed through postgraduate study become images, objects, moving media and performances, while cross-cultural experiences take shape through personal visual languages.

The exhibition is open through August 24, 2026, at the AU Museum, Suvarnabhumi Campus. Members of the AU community, art enthusiasts and the public are invited to attend.
