Assumption University of Thailand (AU) strengthened its international academic connections by welcoming a senior delegation from the University of Regina, Canada, for a campus visit, academic discussions, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) designed to create exciting new opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers at both institutions.
The visit brought together academic leaders from Thailand and Canada with a shared commitment to advancing international education. Beyond the formal signing ceremony, the discussions focused on building a partnership that could deliver meaningful benefits through student and faculty exchanges, joint research, academic initiatives, and the sharing of educational resources.
The University of Regina brings an impressive record of academic achievement and international engagement to the partnership. Located in Saskatchewan, Canada, the respected public university serves more than 16,400 students and offers over 280 academic programs across 10 faculties. Its research capabilities include 21 research centres and institutes, reflecting a strong commitment to academic discovery and practical innovation.
The Canadian institution is a pioneer in experiential education, having introduced Western Canada’s first cooperative education program more than half a century ago. Its emphasis on connecting classroom learning with professional experience complements Assumption University’s commitment to preparing graduates for success in an increasingly interconnected world.
For AU students, the new partnership offers the prospect of experiencing different academic environments, developing international friendships, and gaining fresh perspectives that extend well beyond the classroom. Faculty members, meanwhile, could benefit from new opportunities to collaborate with Canadian colleagues, pursue joint research, and exchange knowledge across academic disciplines.
The delegation’s visit also provided an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships and identify areas of mutual academic interest. By bringing together the expertise and educational strengths of both universities, the agreement establishes a foundation for future initiatives that could enrich teaching, learning, and research in Thailand and Canada.
For Assumption University, the collaboration reflects its continuing commitment to international academic cooperation and creating opportunities that connect the AU community with respected educational institutions around the world.
While the MoU represents an important milestone, its greatest potential lies in the opportunities it may create: students broadening their horizons, educators exchanging ideas, and researchers working together to address shared challenges.
The visit concluded on a promising note, marking the beginning of a new chapter in academic cooperation between Assumption University and the University of Regina.
