Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed Amala Institute leaders for talks on September 15, 2026, at the Hua Mak Campus, opening discussions on future cooperation in medical education, research, student exchange and professional development.
The meeting brought together senior academic leaders from both institutions, including Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Clinical Prof. Suwat Benjaponpitak, Dean of the St. Luke School of Medicine, along with university administrators from Academic Affairs and the School of Medicine.
The visiting delegation was led by Fr. Julious Arakkal, Director of Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, accompanied by senior administrators from the institution.
Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, based in Thrissur, Kerala, India, brings together medical education, healthcare and research. Its facilities include a medical college, teaching hospitals, cancer care and nursing education.
Discussions explored a broad range of potential areas for cooperation, including academic collaboration, student exchange, professional development activities, joint research, knowledge and resource sharing, and initiatives connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Medical education and research were among the key areas of shared interest, with both institutions considering how closer academic ties could create opportunities for students, faculty members and researchers.
The two sides also exchanged views on a proposed Memorandum of Understanding and discussed possible directions for future cooperation, particularly in medical education and research.
The meeting gave representatives from both institutions an opportunity to exchange ideas, identify areas of mutual interest and explore how their respective strengths could support future academic and research activities.
Both institutions expressed interest in continuing discussions toward meaningful cooperation, marking a positive step in exploring new opportunities for academic exchange, research collaboration and professional development.
