For a group of young students from the mountains of Chiang Rai, a visit to Bangkok is more than a school trip. It’s a chance to discover new places, make new friends and see possibilities beyond their familiar surroundings.
On October 26, 2026, Assumption University’s Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics (MSME), in collaboration with Dharma Drum Mountain, welcomed students and teachers from Pui Ying School to AU’s Suvarnabhumi Campus for a special educational camp.
Organized from October 25–29, the initiative brings together the Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, its Thailand branch and Assumption University to provide learning opportunities for children from remote communities in northern Thailand.
The opening ceremony brought together representatives from AU’s Center for Environmental and Social Advocacy and Dharma Drum Mountain, including Venerable Chang Jyu and Ms. Lin Shuzhen, president of Dharma Drum Mountain’s Thailand branch.
And this is no ordinary school trip!
The program combines education with adventure, including financial literacy activities using Monopoly and artificial intelligence, team sports, recreational activities and opportunities to explore Bangkok’s famous cultural landmarks, including Wat Arun, Wat Saket and the Grand Palace.
For many participants, the experience offers a rare opportunity to explore life beyond their home communities, build confidence and discover what their futures might hold.
The collaboration reflects Assumption University’s commitment to making education accessible beyond its own classrooms, bringing together academic expertise, community engagement and meaningful experiences for young learners.
Five days, countless new experiences and perhaps a few big dreams waiting to begin.
