English Gets Real at AU’s Fourth Annual English Language Camp

English stepped off the page and into real life as the Institute for English Language Education (IELE), Theodore Maria School of Arts, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), teamed up once again with Pramandanijjanukroah School for the Fourth Annual MEP English Camp on September 11, 2026.

Now in its fourth year, the camp turned English practice into something students could actually use. Held under the ongoing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, the program focused on speaking, listening, teamwork and confidence through hands-on activities rather than textbook-only learning.

English for the Real World

Under the theme “Effective English Communication for Real-World Experience,” students rotated through interactive activity stations designed to build practical communication skills, expand vocabulary and make speaking English feel more natural.

The opening remarks from the Director of Pramandanijjanukroah School and Dr. Nida Boonma, Director of IELE, set the tone for the day: English is most useful when students have the confidence and opportunity to use it.

The camp also brought back activities connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), giving students a chance to talk about global issues and sustainability while putting their English skills to work.

The IELE Team

Leading the activities were Ajarn Daniel W. Merrillat, Ajarn Mario Ocampo, Jr., Ajarn Nina Nipatsan, Ajarn Pawinee Phattanawibul and Dr. Sandor Danka. They were supported by AU undergraduate student volunteers and students from the University’s Master of Arts in English Language Teaching (MA ELT) program.

Together, the team kept the camp moving, talking and learning, while giving AU students valuable experience supporting real-world language activities.

Four Years and Counting

The 2026 camp marked four years of collaboration between IELE and Pramandanijjanukroah School. What began as an institutional partnership has grown into a recurring learning experience that brings English out of the classroom and puts it into action.

IELE expressed its appreciation to Pramandanijjanukroah School for its continued partnership and looks forward to creating more opportunities for students to learn, communicate and connect.

Schools and organizations interested in tailor-made English camps, language workshops or professional development programs may contact IELE to explore customized learning opportunities.
