An afternoon of drawing, color and conversation brought students and children together as Assumption University of Thailand (AU) marked His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn’s Birthday Anniversary through service.
On 28 July 2026, students from Wang Klai Kangwon School studying at Assumption University and having recieved The Honor of King Rama X Scholarship visited the Camillian Home for Children with Disabilities in Lat Krabang, Bangkok.
The students organized an art activity that gave the children an opportunity to express themselves, create together and simply enjoy the company of new friends. They also donated essential supplies to help support the children’s daily care.
The Camillian Home for Children Living with Disabilities is a public charitable organization operating under the Camillian Foundation of Thailand. It provides free care and support to children with different physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities, without discrimination based on race or religion. Its work includes daily care, education, physical and occupational therapy, rehabilitation and vocational development, all guided by the belief that every child deserves dignity, opportunity and a place to belong.
Rev. Bro. Channarong Boonphram, Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs, represented Assumption University at the donation ceremony. The group was warmly welcomed by Fr. Anusorn Nilakhet, Director of the Camillian Home, who received the donated supplies and introduced the students to the Home’s mission and its continuing work with children and families.
While the supplies addressed practical needs, the time spent together carried an equally important message. Through pictures, laughter and shared moments around the art table, the students discovered that service is not simply about giving something to others. It also means being present, listening and recognizing the value of every person.
During a reflection session, students spoke about how deeply the experience had affected them. Many said the visit helped them understand that happiness is not measured by material possessions. They returned with a stronger sense of gratitude and the realization that even a small act of kindness, offered sincerely, can brighten someone’s day and leave a lasting impression.
Organized in honor of His Majesty the King’s Birthday Anniversary, the activity brought Assumption University’s core value of “Love and Serve” to life. It reminded the students that compassion begins when people step beyond their familiar surroundings, meet others with an open heart and choose to make a difference wherever they can.
