AU empowered young innovators at Pak Clong Chuad Yai School through recycled invention contest promoting sustainability
Assumption University of Thailand (AU) by Institute for Research and Academic Services (IRAS), Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts and Central Library organized a Recycled Materials Invention Contest at Pak Clong Chuad Yai School as part of its community engagement initiative focused on energy conservation and environmental sustainability.
The activity aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and environmental awareness among young students by encouraging them to transform leftover and recyclable materials into practical and imaginative inventions. Through hands-on learning, students were introduced to the principles of responsible resource use and sustainable thinking from an early age.
The event was officially welcomed by the Director of Pak Clong Chuad Yai School, who expressed appreciation for AU’s continued collaboration with local educational institutions. He noted that the contest helped strengthen students’ problem-solving skills while promoting environmental responsibility in a fun and engaging way.
Students presented their inventions to a judging panel comprising faculty members and staff from Assumption University of Thailand. The judging criteria emphasized creativity, functionality, and effective use of recycled materials.
Awards were presented in two age categories. For Kindergarten to Grade 3, scholarships were awarded to first, second, and third place winners in the amounts of 600, 400, and 200 baht respectively. For Grades 4 to 6, first prize received 1,000 baht, followed by 700 and 500 baht for second and third place winners.
This activity reflected AU’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, environmental stewardship, and the development of young minds.
