Bangkok, August 7, 2025 – Thomas Aquinas School of Law Commemorates Rapee Day in Honor of Prince Rapee Pattanasak, the Father of Thai Law

The Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), through its Student Council and in collaboration with the Asian Law Students Association of Assumption University (ALSA AU), organized the annual “Rapee Day Ceremony 2025” to pay tribute to the distinguished contributions of Prince Rapee Pattanasak, widely recognized as the Father of Thai Law.

The ceremony commemorates Prince Rapee’s pivotal role in the reform and modernization of Thailand’s legal and judicial systems during the reign of King Rama V, a legacy that continues to shape the legal profession and legal education in the country.

This year’s ceremony was held at the Supreme Court of Thailand and was attended by approximately 50 participants, including the Dean, Assistant Dean, lecturers, and students of AU. The event featured a solemn wreath-laying at Prince Rapee’s statue, symbolizing the school’s deep respect for his enduring influence on Thai legal development.

The ceremony served not only as a tribute but also as an academic reflection on the principles, dedication, and values exemplified by Prince Rapee, which remain fundamental to the study and practice of law in Thailand. By organizing this event, the Thomas Aquinas School of Law reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a community of legal scholars and practitioners dedicated to upholding the rule of law, ethical responsibility, and service to society.

The School of Law expresses its sincere appreciation to all participants whose involvement contributed to the success of this meaningful commemoration, reinforcing the unity and academic mission of the AU legal community.
