Chao Phya Ahbhai raja SiamanukulkijOn March 4, 2021 at 13:30 hrs. at Assumption Hall’s V.I.P. Room, 2nd Floor, the Assumption University of Thailand Hua Mak Campus, a ceremonial photo taking event was held to mark the handing over of the bronze statue of “Chao Phya Ahbhai raja Siamanukulkij” by the Chairman and a representative of the Chao Phya Ahbhai raja Siamanukulkij Foundation in Thailand, to the President of Assumption University of Thailand. 

The statue will be installed in the Assumption University-Belgium Room in the Library at the Suvarnabhumi Campus, marking the 30th Anniversary of staunch relations between The Kingdom of Belgium and Assumption University of Thailand (1991-2021). 

The Chairman of the Foundation, Count Gerald van der Straten Ponthoze and Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran discussed possible joint activities to include the presence of Belgians in Thailand.

It was agreed that the Bronze statue of Baron Pillipe Northorb, a former Belgian Ambassador to Thailand, and collaborator to Mr. Chaovarat Charnvirakul in the erection of the Thai-Belgian Friendship Bridge in Bangkok in 1988, be also housed in the Assumption University-Belgium Room which was to be formally inaugurated at the end of 2022.
