Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), organized BIO Pin Decoration Ceremony 2021 on January 24, 2022 at Salle d' Expo room, Assumption Hall, Hua Mak Campus.

Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, Dean Emeritus of Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology offered the BIO Pin to 25 students among the 1st year to the 3rd year Biotechnology students as well as delivered a celebrative speech and a special keynote lecture to the students as a preparation for their future careers and higher education.
Dr. Churdchai has given his speech on his opinion on COVID-19. He has anticipated this suspicious occurrence as it being used for a biological weapon. And that it will not end soon but rather keep on mutating into a new variant. He also stated that the mutation rate of this coronavirus outpaced the invention of new vaccine, improved to keep up with the new-coming variant.
He also shared his vision on foundation of School of Biotechnology that Biotechnology actually involved in our daily life including food and agricultural products. He has foreseen the use of biotechnology that would become important and possibly change the world. He might not be wrong as we see it today that people now opt for medicinal and functional foods with intention to nourish their health and immune system. Our job is now making the population realize on this essential piece of fact that biotechnology and food technology are actually convergent.
After that, Asst. Prof. Dr. Patchanee Yasurin, Dean of Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, gave a speech to congratulate the students. In her speech, she insisted that she did not say it from the perspective of a dean, rather she said it as a senior student of Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology. In her recall, she was a student under supervision of Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, and at that time, Dr. Cheowtirakul told her that “you chose the right choice” to pursue the knowledge here as it has been part of Thailand’s new S-curve industry.

In this occasion, Mr. Witthawat Kasayapanant, Key Account Manager, QSR, Southeast Asia Region, Griffith Foods Co., Ltd. and the School’s alumnus, shared his working experience and gave suggestions with relation to Thailand’s market demands and growth in the field of biotechnology.

A Very Special Moment in This Ceremony
Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of Assumption University, also thanked and gave a souvenir to Dr. Churdchai Cheowtirakul, Dean Emeritus, “For AU: He is the initiator and Founder of AU School of Biotechnology,” who has been supporting this School to be accredited in both the national and international scales.
