Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand and Confucius Institute at Assumption University of Thailand and Tianjin University of Science and Technology, P.R. China organized the 4th Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar “New World: Biotechnology” on January 7, 2022 at A52 Room, Assumption Hall, Hua Mak Campus, Assumption University of Thailand. This event was conducted online via Zoom application due to the persistent spreading of the pandemic COVID-19.

The seminar started with the video presentation of the universities and the opening ceremony speeches of Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President, Assumption University of Thailand (AU), and Prof. Lu Fuping, President, Tianjin University of Science and Technology, P.R. China.

Ms. Feng Junying
, Counselor of Education, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Thailand gave the congratulatory speech, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Patchanee Yasurin, Dean, Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand delivered a welcome speech to the audience. In this seminar, Dr. Atittaya Tandhanskul, a full-time lecturer of Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology was the master of ceremony.

The seminar topics of the morning section were scheduled as follows:

• “Mulberry Wine Production as Alternative Source of Antioxidants” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Viyada Kunatikan, Director of M.Sc. in Food Biotechnology, Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand The 4th Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar “New World: Biotechnology”
• “Microbial Community Analysis and Beverage Research of Chinese Traditional Fermented Cereal Food” by Prof. Xuegang Luo, Dean of College of Biotechnology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology The 4th Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar “New World: Biotechnology”

“Circular Economic Utilization of Agriculture Waste from Bamboo and Coconut Cultivation” by Dr. Roungdao Klinjapo, lecturer, Food Technology Department, Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology, Assumption University of Thailand. “Isolation, Synthesis and Anti-metabolic Syndrome Evaluation of Natural Flavonoids from Hops” by Prof. Hua Sun, Professor of Tianjin University of Science and Technology The 4th Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar “New World: Biotechnology”
“Study the Effect of Fermentation Conditions on Physicochemical of Mulberry Wine” by Dr. Siriwan Panprivech, Lecturer, Agro Industry Department, Theophane Venard School of Biology, Assumption University of Thailand The 4th Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar “New World: Biotechnology”


The closing ceremony and speech was given by Prof. Xuegang Luo, Dean of College of Biotechnology, Tianjin University of Science and Technology.



In order to give full play to the role of bridge and link of Confucius Institute and to strengthen practical cooperation between P.R. China and Thailand, the Belt and Road Biotechnology Seminar is a non-profit seminar aiming at promoting exchanges and cooperation in biotechnology among countries of regions along Belt and Road.
