Bangkok, Thailand – Assumption University of Thailand (AU) is delighted to have hosted Dr. Kassiénou Basile Lamien, an esteemed Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics from École Normale Supérieure (ENS), Burkina Faso. Dr. Lamien visited AU this September to explore collaborative research opportunities and was welcomed by AU President Brother Bancha Saenghiran, among other faculty members.

Hailing from Burkina Faso, West Africa, Dr. Lamien has been an academic and researcher for over a decade. He specializes in numerical resolving mathematical problems related to natural phenomena, such as underground water filtration and traffic flow.

During his visit, Dr. Lamien was particularly impressed by the state-of-the-art laboratories and overall campus faculities. He met with Dr. Narong Aphiratsakun at the Vincent Mary School of Engineering and expressed his enthusiasm for future collaborations between VME School of Engineering and his home institution.

Dr. Lamien aims to help his PhD students utilize computer simulations for understanding natural phenomena more effectively. "Simulations provide invaluable insights before any on-ground implementation, minimizing errors," he commented.

Dr. Lamien is seeking AU's expertise in simulations and was thankful to Ajarn Glen Chatelier, Director of the Office of International Affairs (OIA) for facilitating these important dialogues and to Associate Professor Jiradech Kongthon, accompanying Lecturer.
