In a landmark initiative, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) and Thonburi Healthcare Group Public Company Limited (THG) are proud to announce the establishment of St. Luke School of Medicine. This innovative partnership aims to address Thailand's pressing need for medical professionals, with plans to commence admissions in 2025.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran, President of AU, underlined the significance of this partnership: “We are honored to collaborate with THG in establishing what will be one of Asia's most modern medical schools. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to contribute to society through high-quality education.

St. Luke School of Medicine: A Future Vision

Dr. Tanatip Suppradit, CEO of THG, highlighted the critical shortage of medical staff in Thailand. “With the national physician-to-population ratio falling below the global standard, our collaboration with AU is a strategic response to a national crisis,” said Dr. Suppradit. “St. Luke School of Medicine will be a cornerstone in developing a new generation of medical professionals.

A Union of Vision and Excellence

The collaboration will leverage AU’s educational expertise and THG’s extensive medical network. THG is tasked with establishing the fund per the Medical Council of Thailand's criteria for new medical schools, identifying clinical teaching hospitals, and procuring necessary medical lab equipment and supplies. AU will oversee administration and infrastructure development.

The St. Luke School of Medicine, officially approved by the AU Council Committee, will feature a curriculum that integrates medical sciences with management skills. It will be situated at the Suvarnabhumi Campus, offering an environment conducive to both work and learning. The first three years of the medical program will be campus-based, followed by clinical training at partner hospitals.

Embarking on a Global Journey

In addition to its innovative curriculum, the school is actively pursuing international collaborations. Discussions with Peking University Institute of Global Health and Development and Wisconsin Medical School are underway, aimed at enhancing medical and faculty development programs.

Rev. Bro. Dr. Bancha Saenghiran further noted, “Our vision for St. Luke School of Medicine goes beyond traditional medical education. We aim to produce well-rounded, globally competent medical professionals who are not only skilled in healthcare but also adept in leadership and social responsibility.

The St. Luke School of Medicine is a tribute to the vision of Rev. Bro. Dr. Martin Komolmas, President Emeritus of AU, who played a pivotal role in developing the Suvarnabhumi Campus. The school's emblem, a dark green cross on a red shield, reflects its identity as a medical school within a Catholic educational institution.
