Students from the Entrepreneur and Innovation Management department of the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics and the Product Design Department of Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design have advanced to the next round of the Design Hero Project, a product innovation competition, which is sponsored by the Office of Health Promotion Foundation of Thailand in collaboration with Online Media and Art4D Magazine.
In this national competition, there are 50 competing teams, the group of Onvara Lersthanawat, Nang Mwe Hlaing and Shaosan Liu have successfully clinched a spot among the Top 10 with their proposed bio-case project. The Bio-case (Earthrise) project is initially a phone case but was modified into multipurpose boxes made from rice straw that intend to help in the preservation of the environment through the development of sustainable products. The product prototype will be showcased in the Bangkok Design Week 2023 which carries the theme Green Business-Design for Community: Business to Save the World.
The team, which is composed of one student from Product Design department and two students from Entrepreneurship and Innovation department were coached by Dr. Ananya Kannasoot and Dr. Jenette V. Puyod. They were also supervised by Assistant Professor Dr. Chutarat Laomanacharoen, Chairperson of Product Design department, Dr. Radha Sirianukul, Chairperson of Entrepreneur and Innovation Management department, who gave invaluable suggestions and comments to make the project a success.
The team received a 50,000 baht grant to make the product prototype. They presented their prototype during the third round of the competition at Samyan Mitrtown last February 11, 2023. Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will present a royal trophy to the winning team, which will be announced and awarded on April 8, 2023.
