The Student Council of Assumption University's Bernadette De Lourdes School of Nursing Science (BLNS) has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Albert Prize for Outstanding Community Project, for their project, "BLNS Volunteer Spirit for Community." The project, which focuses on community health and social engagement, demonstrates the university's commitment to nurturing socially responsible leaders and fostering positive change.

Sponsored by the Assumption University Alumni Association (AUAA) and Thai Wacoal Public Company Limited, the project showcases the dedication of BLNS students to making a lasting impact on society. This initiative was carried out in collaboration with Teparak Municipality, Samutprakarn, with the goal of addressing the healthcare needs of the elderly population.

The project kicked off with a comprehensive survey conducted by nursing students to identify healthcare gaps among the older demographic. Drawing on their expertise, the students designed and executed a health examination program tailored to the community's specific needs. The program included a range of essential healthcare assessments and services such as body mass index measurement, blood pressure checks, blood sugar measurement, urinary incontinence assessment, fall risk assessment, primary dementia assessment, general physical examination, breast cancer assessment, mental health assessment, and health education on topics such as non-communicable diseases and cancer.

The Albert Prize, named in honor of Assumption University's Rector Magnificus, Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, reflects the university's commitment to fostering excellence and continuous growth among its students. Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran commented, "This project exemplifies our values and mission, and we're proud to recognize its significant impact."

The Assumption University community congratulates the BLNS Student Council members for their exceptional efforts in driving positive change and promoting community welfare through the "BLNS Volunteer Spirit for Community" project.
