WRITER: CONFUCIUS INSTITUTE AT ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY
The Joint Conference of Southeast Asian Confucius Institutes, themed "Collaborative Innovation, Steady Development," was held between 19th-21st of July, 2023 at Beijing International Convention Center. Organized by Chinese International Education Foundation and hosted by Beijing Language and Culture University, the three-day conference brought together 62 Confucius Institutes and Classrooms from 10 countries.
Among the distinguished guests, the Confucius Institute of Assumption University (CIAU) received a cordial invitation to partake in the conference. Prof. Dr. Wang Min, Vice President of Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST), Mr. Zhao Peiqin, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office of TUST, Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong, Director of CIAU, and Ms. Kannika Ponamnuaysuk, Assistant to the Director of CIAU, attended the conference.
The conference aimed to foster collaboration among Confucius Institutes and Classrooms within the Southeast Asian region, enabling participants to share invaluable experiences in managing Confucius Institutes and Classrooms, and promoting Chinese language education. Engaging discussions centered on regional collaborative innovation, with attendees working together to forge a visionary path for the future development of Confucius Institutes and Classrooms in Southeast Asia.
A notable highlight of the opening ceremony was the donation ceremony conducted by Chinese Literature. Assoc. Prof. Yang Hairong accepted the donation of books on behalf of the Thai Confucius Institute (Classroom) Development Alliance.
