WRITER: MARTIN DE TOURS SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AND ECONOMICS
As part of the Youth Volunteer Project 2025, supported by the Office of the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, a multidisciplinary team from Assumption University of Thailand (AU) conducted a dynamic field visit from 10–11 July 2025 to community enterprises in Pathum Thani Province and Lat Krabang District, Bangkok.
Faculty and students from the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics, the Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts, and the Theophane Venard School of Biotechnology worked closely with three grassroots enterprises focused on sustainability and local innovation:
- Environmental Conservation Community Enterprise Group (Pathum Thani): “Development of Broom Products from Recycled Bottles”
- Ruangkhao Community Enterprise (Pathum Thani): “Development of Local Desserts’ Identity of the Mon Community for Sustainable Community Development”
- Chan Krung Nawat Withee Community Enterprise (Lat Krabang, Bangkok): “From Chan Krung Sugarcane to Creative Products: Adding Value and Building Sustainability”
The field visit aimed to assess local needs and build on existing partnerships in areas such as product development, marketing, branding, and basic accounting. These initiatives support the long-term goal of enhancing community income, fostering sustainable practices, and improving local livelihoods.
Beyond supporting grassroots innovation, the project gave students a real-world platform to apply their knowledge in planning, problem-solving, and interdisciplinary teamwork—strengthening their academic journey with meaningful community engagement.
By empowering local changemakers and promoting hands-on learning, AU continues to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world impact—one community at a time.
