Sawasdee Starts Here as AU Thai Language Course Gets Talking

Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed international students into a new language adventure on September 14, 2026, as the Learning Thai for International Community course officially began at the Hua Mak Campus.

Leading the six-week program are Senior Lecturer Dr. Thongdee Kijboonchoo and Mrs. Wilai Pruesapancha, Head of the Department of Information Services and Learning Support, Assumption University Library, bringing together language learning, practical experience, and the warm welcome that helps newcomers feel at home at AU.

The opening class focused on Thai that students can actually use. From greeting people around campus and asking everyday questions to ordering food and navigating life in Bangkok, participants began building the vocabulary and confidence needed to communicate beyond the classroom.

With plenty of opportunities to listen, speak, practice, and laugh together, the course takes a friendly approach to learning. The emphasis is not simply on memorizing words, but on helping students use Thai comfortably in real situations.

For AU’s international community, learning Thai can open the door to much more than conversation. Every new phrase offers another way to connect with local culture, make new friends, and better understand the country they now call home.

The Learning Thai for International Community program continues through October 21, 2026, at Assumption University’s Hua Mak Campus.

And with Dr. Thongdee and the ever-welcoming Khun Wilai helping lead the way, AU’s newest Thai learners are in very good hands.
