Students traded the school routine for university life.
Assumption University of Thailand (AU) welcomed 34 upper-secondary students from Assumption College Thonburi (ACT) for the four-day ACT to ABAC Camp, held September 2–5, 2026, at AU’s Suvarnabhumi Campus.Designed as much more than a campus tour, the residential camp invited students to explore academic programs, meet lecturers and student buddies, experience residence-hall life and begin imagining themselves as university students. Consider it a four-day test drive—with considerably more homework than the average road trip.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Uree Cheasakul, Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the participants and introduced them to AU’s international learning community. Rev. Bro. Dr. Veerayuth Boonpram, Director of Assumption College Thonburi, also joined the opening program and shared information about scholarship opportunities for ACT students continuing their studies at AU.
Campus Life Came to Life
The first day placed design, engineering and technology in the spotlight. Students joined a Design and AI workshop, visited MG and explored learning opportunities offered by the Montfort del Rosario School of Architecture and Design and the Vincent Mary School of Engineering, Science and Technology.
A campus tour introduced the group to AU’s academic facilities, student spaces and unmistakable architectural character. Current AU students served as buddies throughout the camp, helping their younger guests navigate both the campus and the sometimes mysterious art of university life.
The academic tour continued with activities involving the Theodore Maria School of Arts, Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Louis Nobiron School of Music, Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics and Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts.
Students also visited the Institute for English Language Education Language Café, attended class demonstrations and spoke with senior students about studying, communicating and building confidence in an international university environment.
Learning Beyond the Lecture Hall
The camp connected academic exploration with practical experience. Students took part in creative workshops, group activities, industry-focused learning and reflection sessions designed to help them connect classroom interests with possible study and career paths.
The final program featured learning activities presented by the Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation, Bernadette de Lourdes School of Nursing Science and AU’s health science programs.
Students also received information about scholarships, international opportunities and AU’s Credit Bank pathway. Participation in the camp could contribute credit toward the Storytelling course, giving students something more lasting than photographs and a temporarily confused sleep schedule.
Students Leading Students
The camp also created an important learning opportunity for AU students. Representatives from participating schools helped design activities, guide visitors and manage daily programs, strengthening their leadership, communication and teamwork skills.
By placing students at the center of the experience, ACT to ABAC Camp built connections between two educational communities with shared Gabrielite roots. It gave participants an authentic taste of university study while showing them that choosing a degree was not simply about selecting a subject—it was about discovering where their talents, interests and ambitions could take them.
The program concluded with a reflection activity, certificate presentation and farewell session. After four days of classes, conversations, new friendships and campus adventures, the students returned home with portfolios in progress, university possibilities in sight and a much clearer idea of what could come next.
