Assumption University of Thailand (AU) gathered on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, to celebrate the birthday of Rev. Bro. Bancha Saenghiran, f.s.g., Ph.D., Rector Magnificus, in a warm and meaningful tribute to one of the University’s most respected and beloved leaders.
Organized by the Office of the President, the celebration was held at the Seminar Room, 1st floor, De Montfort Hall, where administrators, faculty members, staff, and alumni came together to offer birthday greetings, good wishes, and sincere appreciation for Rev. Bro. Bancha’s many years of service to AU.
The occasion was more than a birthday celebration. It was a moment for the AU community to pause and honor a leader whose life has been closely connected with the growth, identity, and spirit of the University. As Rector Magnificus, Rev. Bro. Bancha has continued to represent the values at the heart of AU: faith, wisdom, service, discipline, compassion, and the belief that education should shape both the mind and the character.
Rev. Bro. Bancha has long held a special place in AU’s history. Installed as the Fifth President of AU on November 14, 2002, he helped guide the University through important years of development while strengthening its mission as an international Catholic institution committed to academic excellence and human formation. His leadership has been marked by quiet dignity, steady guidance, and a deep commitment to the Gabrielite tradition of education.
For many members of the AU community, Rev. Bro. Bancha’s influence has been felt not only through his formal leadership, but also through his presence. He has been a source of continuity across generations of students, faculty, staff, and alumni, reminding the University community that true education is built on knowledge, kindness, responsibility, and service to others.
The birthday program began with guests assembling at 9:45 a.m., followed by birthday greetings at 10:00 a.m. by Mr. Glen Vivian Chatelier. At 10:05 a.m., the Vice President for Administrative Affairs presented a bouquet to Rev. Bro. Bancha, followed by photo sessions and refreshments.
The celebration reflected the deep respect and affection felt throughout the AU community. It was a heartfelt expression of gratitude for Rev. Bro. Bancha’s enduring contribution to AU and a joyful occasion to wish him continued health, happiness, and blessings.
As AU honored Rev. Bro. Bancha on his birthday, the gathering also celebrated a life of faith, leadership, and service that continues to inspire the University family.
