On July 17, 2025, the Assumption University of Thailand (AU)’ s community came together in the spirit of gratitude and tradition to celebrate the annual Wai Kru Ceremony, held at the John Paul II Sports Center, Suvarnabhumi Campus. With doors opening at 12:00 noon and the ceremony running from 13:00 to 16:00 hrs, the event welcomed students in full uniform for a heartfelt tribute to the educators who guide and shape their academic journey.

Rooted deeply in Thai culture, Wai Kru—which means “to pay respect to teachers”—is a cherished ceremony that reflects the high value Thai society places on education and mentorship. Students present offerings of flowers, candles, and incense to their teachers as symbols of respect, humility, and a commitment to learning. It’s a moment that strengthens the student–teacher bond and reinforces the shared purpose of academic growth and personal development.

AU’s version of this tradition was as elegant as ever, blending formality with warmth. The Student Organization (AUSO) did a stellar job organizing the event, ensuring smooth coordination and a beautiful setting adorned with floral arrangements symbolizing devotion and wisdom.
All students with ID numbers starting with 68x-xxxx were required to attend, marking an important rite of passage in their university life. As the hall filled with soft music, flower garlands, and thoughtful reflections, it was clear that the legacy of Thai educational values is alive and well at AU.
