Timorese Trailblazers Tour Bangkok’s Award-Winning Green Hostel On Friday afternoon, May 2, 2025, MBA in Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM), Assumption University of Thailand (AU) students from Timor-Leste embarked on a field trip to Double B Hostel, a boutique 21-room property in Bangkok that seamlessly blends sustainability, design, and guest experience.
Owned and managed by AU alumna Khun Benz, the hostel recently received a Special Mention at the Architizer A+Awards, one of the world’s most prestigious platforms recognizing excellence in architecture and design.
Khun Benz welcomed the group with a candid talk about the inspiration behind Double B Hostel, sharing how environmental mindfulness shaped every decision—from passive cooling design and décor choices to solar panels and water-saving systems. She emphasized how these sustainable practices benefit not only the planet but also operational efficiency.
Students engaged her with thoughtful questions about hospitality trends, government compliance, and managing diverse tourist expectations. Her responses offered real-world insight into balancing innovation with regulation in a competitive market.
The visit included a full tour across all three floors, where staff introduced the various room types, amenities, and thoughtful design features. The tour concluded at Bite and Bond, the hostel’s cozy café, where students enjoyed refreshments—with a 10% discount, of course.
The half-day learning journey wrapped up with group photos and lasting impressions—proof that great hospitality is about more than comfort; it’s about vision, values, and design with purpose.
