July 2–7, 2025 – Suvarnabhumi Campus, Bangkok – The spirit of dreams and destiny lit up CL Plaza during the AU Japanese Star Festival (Tanabata) 2025, held from July 2 to July 7.

Organized by the Japanese International Business Program under the Theodore Maria School of Arts, Assumption University of Thailand (AU)  this vibrant celebration invited the AU community to reflect on their hopes and aspirations through the theme: “Become Who You Want to Be.”

Inspired by the Japanese legend of Vega and Altair, the festival brought to life the story of two lovers who cross the Milky Way to reunite once a year — symbolizing perseverance, love, and the pursuit of dreams.

The event featured a colorful lineup of cultural activities, including:

  • Tanzaku wish writing, where participants penned heartfelt hopes on paper strips and tied them to bamboo branches
  • Yukata try-ons, offering a taste of traditional summer fashion from Japan
  • Anime cosplay, allowing students to step into the worlds of their favorite characters

The Opening Ceremony, held on July 2 at 10:00 AM, set the tone for a week filled with joy, creativity, and cross-cultural appreciation. Many came dressed in Yukata, adding authenticity and energy to the celebration.

“The 2025 theme reminded us that the journey to becoming our true selves starts with a simple wish,” said the event organizer. “Just like in the Tanabata legend, no distance is too great when you believe in your dreams.”

By the end of the week, CL Plaza had transformed into a shimmering garden of wishes — a living testament to the power of intention, tradition, and community spirit at AU.
