When Numbers Speak: GS-BATM Students Learn the Art of Data Storytelling with Ajarn Joop

WRITER: THANANPORN SETHJINDA

Students from the Financial Management class at the Graduate School of Business – Business Administration in Technology Management (GS-BATM), Assumption University of Thailand (AU) took a deep dive into the world of data visualization during a dynamic speed-learning workshop led by Ajarn Joop — Wuthichai Choohasakulchoke from the Creative Communication Design (CCD), Albert Laurence School of Communication Arts.

The workshop explored how to transform dry statistics into visually compelling stories. Ajarn Joop kicked off the session by unpacking the essentials of visual storytelling—choosing the right chart, crafting layouts with intention, and creating data presentations that engage, inform, and persuade.

From smart color choices to the importance of typography and spacing, students learned how small design tweaks can dramatically increase the impact of their financial reports. Clear, real-world examples helped students understand how visuals influence attention and comprehension.

In the afternoon, students received personalized one-on-one coaching. Ajarn Joop offered tailored advice on their presentations, providing actionable tips to level up their work.

Big thanks to Ajarn Joop for a workshop that turned numbers into narratives. The GS-BATM cohort is walking away with sharper design instincts—and a newfound excitement for making data talk!
