Assumption University of Thailand (AU)’s Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation welcomed Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kriskamol Na Jom of Kasetsart University’s Faculty of Agro-Industry (Food Science & Technology) for an engaging guest lecture in the course FBT 4003 Natural Antioxidants and Toxicology. His session, titled “Phytochemicals”, provided students with a deeper understanding of the bioactive compounds that make plants such powerful allies in human health.
A Speaker with Strong Roots in Food Science
Dr. Kriskamol is a respected scholar in food chemistry and natural antioxidants, widely recognized for his work on plant-derived compounds and their functional applications in foods. His research spans antioxidant activity, toxicology, and the practical development of healthier food products, expertise that made his visit especially valuable to biotechnology students preparing for careers in food innovation.
Exploring the Chemistry of Wellness
During the lecture, Dr. Kriskamol guided students through the science behind phytochemicals—how they work, where they are found, and why they matter. He shed light on antioxidant mechanisms, toxicity considerations, and the real-world challenges of translating laboratory findings into market-ready food solutions. Students engaged actively, gaining both scientific clarity and deeper appreciation for the potential of plant-based compounds.
