Thomas Aquinas School of Law Hosts First Orientation and Wai Kru Ceremony at Hua Mak Campus

The Thomas Aquinas School of Law, Assumption University of Thailand (AU) marked a historic milestone as it hosted its First Orientation and Wai Kru Ceremony at the Hua Mak Campus on June 26, 2025. The event welcomed incoming law students and celebrated the beginning of their academic journey with reverence, tradition, and a strong sense of community.

The ceremony commenced with a formal orientation session introducing students to the school’s academic programs, legal training opportunities, and the mission to develop ethically grounded, globally competent legal professionals. Faculty members presented the school’s vision, emphasizing excellence in legal education, commitment to the rule of law, and service to society.

The Wai Kru Ceremony, a time-honored Thai tradition in which students pay respect to their Lecturers, highlighted the values of gratitude, humility, and the sacred teacher-student relationship. Students presented flower trays to honor their professors, expressing their respect and readiness to embark on the rigorous path of legal study.

In his opening address, Dr. Norarit Sudsanguan, Dean of the Thomas Aquinas School of Law, emphasized the importance of integrity, discipline, and critical thinking in legal education. He also underscored the School’s unwavering commitment to educational equality, stating that all students, regardless of financial status or family background, must be given the opportunity to succeed and thrive in the legal profession. “At Thomas Aquinas, we believe in empowering every student with the tools, values, and support they need to become agents of justice,” he noted.

The event concluded with networking and fellowship among students, faculty, and staff, setting the tone for a collaborative and inspiring academic environment.
