Sustainable Savor, Serious Science: Plant-Based Innovation Lit Up AU

Plant & Bean Thailand’s MD brought big plant-based ideas to Food Biotechnology students

The Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation at Assumption University of Thailand (AU)  turned one classroom into a mini think tank for the future of food on February 23, 2026, welcoming Mr. Kiatkamol Tangngamchit, Managing Director of Plant & Bean (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

With the talk “Plant-based Food Product Innovation: Sustainable Savor”, Mr. Kiatkamol walked students through what makes plant-based products work in the real world, where smart formulation meets manufacturing reality, and where “good for you” has to also mean “good enough to eat twice.”

Students from FT4144 Food Ingredients Functionality, FT3114 Functional Foods for Health, FT6189 Experimental Designs and Statistical Analysis, and FB5109C Graduate Seminar gained a closer look at how the plant-based sector was evolving, and why innovation is not just about replacing ingredients, but redesigning the whole product experience, from function and quality to scale and consistency.

Drawing from his leadership at Plant & Bean, a global platform for plant-based manufacturing, Mr. Kiatkamol highlighted how alternative proteins, sustainability-minded production, and consumer expectations were pushing food innovation forward at full speed.

The session reflected the School’s continued focus on industry-connected learning, giving students a chance to connect classroom knowledge with the fast-moving world of sustainable food development.

The Theophane Venard School of Food Biotechnology and Innovation expressed its sincere appreciation to Mr. Kiatkamol for sharing his expertise and helping spark new ideas for the next generation of food innovators.
