Friday, 20th March 2026, was a very unusual and memorable day for quite a few of us at the Suvarnabhumi campus of the Assumption University of Thailand (AU). Unusual in the sense that the campus was very quiet as the semester break just began, with almost no students in sight despite it not being a weekend . More significantly, it was truly an unforgettable day for those who were there for the following specific event:
A visit by 43 MBA graduating students, led by Prof. Dr. Pious Thomas and Prof Suma Matthew, from the St. Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology. The visiting delegate flew all the way, 3000km from India, stayed the 5 days in Thailand visiting two factories and during the last day, before flying home, visited the Suvarnabhumi campus of the Assumption University of Thailand.
The visiting delegates were warmly met upon their arrival by a welcoming team organised by Dr. Bhumiphat Gilitwala, the MBA Program Director from the Graduate School of Business and Advanced Technology Management.
Following the background and the construction introduction of the scenic Sala Chaturak Paijit, the first session of group picture taking was organised in front of the ever-impressive Cathedral of Learning Building of the university.
The first highlight for the visiting delegates was a 2 hour campus tour covering the administrative indoor floors at the Cathedral of Learning and around the campus outdoor on two of the campus trams. The places visited among others are: the various buildings that housed the respective schools of the university; including the latest Gabriel Mary New Energy Research & Learning Centre followed by the John Paul II AU sports facilities and the Aquatic Centre and the magnificent Louis Marie de Montfort Chapel.
The second highlight of the visit following the campus tour was organised at Cafe LeCoqD’or; a sumptuous south Indian lunch specially arranged for all present. The lunch was greatly appreciated by all attended.
Immediately after lunch, scheduled for 3 hours next, at the Viset SriSamut lecture theatre, the third highlight of the visit, a workshop entitled ” International Business Culture and Change Management”. The workshop was officially opened with a welcome remark by Associate Professor Chanintorn Jittawiriyanukoon, the University Vice President for Research and Academic Services.
Following the well received workshop, the President of the Assumption University, Rev. Bro. Sirichai Fonseka, f.s.g., PhD., personally presented certificates individually to every member of the visiting delegate.
In conclusion, all present felt this day was such an unforgettable day even though it was a very long and tiring day, but was well worth all the efforts.
The Assumption University greatly valued and treasured the opportunity to meet with the visiting delegates from St Joseph’s College of Engineering and Technology, Palai, India and looking forward to your next visit.
